Graduate School Of International Affairs And
Pacific Studies At UC San Diego To Host 2004
International Affairs Graduate School Admissions Forum

By Paula Cichocka

Representatives from 20 international affairs graduate study programs will meet with potential and prospective students on Monday, October 25 at UCSD as part of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA) Graduate School Admissions Forum. The event, hosted by the IR/PS, is free and open to the public.

The purpose of the forum is to allow students with an interest in disciplines, such as international affairs, area studies, international management and public policy, to learn about academic and professional opportunities in the international arena. Current graduate students and admissions representatives from APSIA schools throughout the country and abroad will be available to discuss admissions requirements, common curricula, degree programs, financial aid and future careers. General Information and applications for each of the schools will also be available. A list of participating schools is available at:

The IR/PS forum, sponsored by APSIA, is one of fourteen recruiting sessions to be held this year at schools in the United States, Latin America and Asia. Organizers expect that over 100 interested candidates will attend the UC San Diego forum, which will be held in the Ida and Cecil Green Faculty Club.

The Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs comprises 29 member schools in the United States, Asia and Europe dedicated to the improvement of profession education in international affairs. Since the attacks of September 11, 2001, applications to APSIA schools have increased dramatically. In 2003, approximately 17,500 people applied to graduate programs at APSIA schools.
