The Future Is Behind - The speaker, at right, is referring to the Aymara expression aka marat(a) mararu, literally “from this year to next year.” When saying aka marat(a), “from this year,” he points with his right index finger downwards and then, while saying mararu, “to next year,” he points backwards over his left shoulder. Half a second later (see video), he goes on to clarify the same idea by saying in the Spanish/Aymara creole Castellano Andino, al otro año, “to the other year,” while pointing backwards over his left shoulder again, but this time with his left thumb.
