Fiesta de las Estrellas Celebrates Student ‘Stars’ and Community Leader Sal Saucedo

The 15th annual Fiesta de las Estrellas—a “celebration of the stars” hosted by the University of California, San Diego’s Hispanic Scholarship Council—will raise much-needed scholarship funding for ambitious and motivated UC San Diego students on April 18. Since its founding 15 years ago, the event has raised more than $1 million for undergraduate scholarships to help ensure that students from all backgrounds can access a world-class UC San Diego education.

Bridge to Success

UC San Diego’s Summer Bridge program began in 1978 with just 30 students as a way to empower incoming freshmen to be successful at UC San Diego. Today, roughly 4,700 students from underserved high schools have completed the program. This year marks the 35th anniversary of Summer Bridge.

Annual Muir Musical Presents “RENT” April 12-14 at UC San Diego

The annual Muir Musical at the University of California, San Diego returns with a production of “RENT.” The 1986 Broadway musical tells the story of young artists in New York City’s East Village trying to make a living while staying true to their ideals. The UC San Diego production is completely student-run, from the acting and directing to the sound, costumes, sets and even the marketing and financial management. The show runs April 12-14 on the UC San Diego campus and is open to the public.
