| Description: | John Fonville, widely recored flautist and composer, has selected a program that shows off the La Jolla Symphony with the rich melodies of Brahms' Academic Festival Overture. Beethoven's dazzling virtuosic showpiece highlights the talents of the 2005 Young Artists Competition winner, Ines Irawati. Then to Debussy's haunting homage to the sea before closing with a premiere of Yumiko Morita, this year's finalist in the Thomas Nee Commission. John Fonville is the Chair of the Department of Music at UCSD. |
