Description: Dr. Donna Nelson is a nationally recognized Professor of Chemistry at University of Oklahoma and author of A National Analysis of Diversity in Science and Engineering Faculties at Research Universities. The report is the first national and most comprehensive analysis to date of tenured and tenure track faculty in the Top 50 departments of science and engineering disciplines showing that females and minorities are significantly underrepresented. In some disciplines. It is likely that a woman will get a Bachelor of Science degree without ever having been taught by a female professor in that discipline!

CSW recognizes UCSD's 2008 TWIN Finalist and all Nominees. In 1980, the YWCA pioneered an excellent program to augment the efforts of companies in recognizing their female employees for outstanding achievements - an effort that introduced the YWCA’s Tribute to Women & Industry (TWIN) to the San Diego community.

CSW will also present a report on the accomplishments and continuing issues on the Status of Women with a focus on Faculty at UCSD for 2007-2008. In 2008-2009 the focus will be on Staff. A light lunch will be provided.
