| Description: | Doc Noel was chosen to play shortstop for the 1959 and 1960 All Star Teams for the Skokie Indians Little League in Illinois, and was elected to the 2002 national Adult Baseball Association (NABA) All Stars in Sacramento, California. He enjoys his career in health promotion, but continues to play, manage, watch – and write and speak about – baseball. Dr. Noel is in his nineteenth year as the Chief Dental Program Consultant for the State of California. His responsibilities include advising the Department of Health Services on administration, dental policy, and quality assurance for the statewide Medicaid Dental Program (Denti-Cal), which has served an annual maximum of 6.9 million beneficiaries, with a budget of $850 million. He is a faculty member of the University of California School of Dentistry/San Francisco, holds a lifetime appointment with California Community Colleges, and is an adjunct professor at San Diego State University. He has served as an American Dental Association spokesperson, and as a consultant to the ADA Council on Dental Practice. He was appointed for six concurrent terms as the California Dental Association Public Health Representative, and he served on the Board of Directors of the California Dental Association Charitable Trust for seven years. An author and professional speaker, he delivered the keynote address at the 125th Annual Session of the American Association of Dental Examiners, and has been recognized nationally for presentations on how to grow and maintain healthy teeth, tobacco cessation, design and administration of dental programs, health promotion, personal growth, organizational development, and baseball. |
