Peter Cowhey Peter Cowhey
Peter Cowhey is Dean of IR/PS and he currently holds the Qualcomm Endowed Chair in Communications and Technology Policy. He will speak at the Founders' Symposium between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. on Nov. 17 at the Medical Education and Telemedicine Learning Building. His lecture will focus on the proposal to establish the Impact Design and Evaluation Laboratories (IDEL) to integrate economics, political science, and other social science disciplines around the methodology of impact evaluation and design to provide novel analyses of important policy issues and solutions to global problems. Marcel Hénaff, a professor of literature in the Division of Arts and Humanities, will give a lecture at 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 8 at the Faculty Club as part of the pre-Founders' Celebration Faculty Research Awards lectures. Steve Kay is the Dean and Richard C. Atkinson Chair in the Division of Biological Sciences. He also is a Distinguished Professor of Cell and Developmental Biology. He will speak at the Founders' Symposium between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. on Nov. 17 at the Medical Education and Telemedicine Learning Building. His lecture, to be held jointly with Dean of Physical Sciences Mark Thiemens, will focus on a new interdisciplinary initiative in Quantitative and Systems Biology, the combination of advanced mathematical modeling and quantitative experimentation to predict and understand complex biological systems. George Tynan is the Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and a professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. He will speak at the Founders' Symposium between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. on Nov. 17 at the Medical Education and Telemedicine Learning Building.
