To mark the forty-fifth anniversary of the civil-rights leader’s assassination, City Opera joins with the Schomburg Center to present an abridged concert version of the piece (with piano accompaniment), with the title role sung by Sidney Outlaw. Davis is on the UC San Diego faculty. More

, May 11 -- The 53rd annual High School Honors Math Contest, held April 17, saw 174 students competing from 23 local high schools. Sponsored by UC San Diego, the Greater San Diego Math Council and SDCOE, the contest is designed to stimulate interest and recognize achievement in mathematics and to honor teachers who encourage their students to excel in math. First place honors were won this year by Canyon Crest Academy and Torrey Pines High School, both in the San Dieguito Union High School District. More
