Several Utahns Have Performed on the Show
The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Ohio, May 12 -- The nation's No. 2 ballroom dance formation team is pushing itself to the limits for a major competition. Utah Valley University is gearing for the Open British Championships at the Blackpool Dance Festival in England later this month, members are pushing themselves for a different kind of competition on Tuesday. That's when the team goes up against Rutgers University's dance team on "Dancing With The Stars." If UVU beats Rutgers, the Utah County team will also compete in the May 25 final round against the winner of the Purdue University and UC San Diego on May 11. More

Sally Ride to Receive Award from Children's Discovery Museum
San Jose Mercury News, May 13 -- It's hard to believe it's been 27 years since Sally Ride became the first American woman in space. But it's no surprise at all that the astronaut is drawing a huge crowd — about 900 people — to the Fairmont Hotel on Friday night, when she'll receive the 11th annual Legacy for Children award from San Jose's Children's Discovery Museum. Program Seeks Books for Cancer Patients to Read to Children
La Jolla Light, May 12 -- Before she died at age 36, Joelle Pauporte came up with the idea of a program that would give patients fighting cancer a way to bond with the children in their lives by reading books together. Pauporte called the program, Light One Little Candle, after the lullaby she sang to her daughter every bedtime. Pauporte's family and friends carried on her idea through the Light One Little Candle Foundation, which provides books to patients receiving cancer treatment at 10 medical centers on the East Coast and in San Diego at Moores UC San Diego Cancer Center. The chapter is hosting a frog-themed fundraiser to collect new books on May 15 at the Moores UCSD Cancer Center. More
Artist Meets Neuroscientist for Forum Debate
