Her 2004 essay The Scientific Consensus on Climate Change attracted huge media attention, and was cited by Al Gore in An Inconvenient Truth. It also gave Naomi her first experience of hate mail and abusive 'phone messages, telling her she was "a disgrace." Brainy UCSD Gets Chance to Flex its Athletic Muscles
San Diego Union-Tribune, May 18 -- Starting today and running through Sunday, UC San Diego plays host to the NCAA Division II West Regional double-elimination baseball tournament, featuring the top-seeded Tritons, Western Oregon, Cal Poly Pomona and Sonoma State. Hosting for the first time, UCSD’s men will be trying to reach the nationals for the third consecutive year. Meanwhile, starting Friday, UCSD will be the site of the NCAA West Super Regional softball tournament, with the Tritons meeting Cal State San Bernardino in a best-of-three, the winner advancing to the NCAA national championships, which feature eight regional winners. The student films begin screening at 8 p.m.  followed by an awards ceremony and panel discussion. More
