San Diego Union-Tribune, May 26 -- A San Diego ice cream cart soapbox came in ninth and a rolling “house” scored 16th among 40 entrants in L.A.’s May 22 Red Bull Soapbox Race. The flying house, built by UC San Diego engineering students inspired by the movie “Up,” shed siding and shingles as it limped over jumps, negotiated a 90-degree turn and tight chicanes to wobble over the finish line.
