Making Room for Research During Residency

Guggenheim Fellowship Recipients
Include Seven Southern California Artists
Los Angeles Times, April 10 -- The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation announced Wednesday the recipients of its annual fellowship in the fields of arts, science and general scholarship. The organization awarded 180 fellowships from a pool of nearly 3,000 applicants. Recipients include Lei Liang, a UCSD composer. More
Netting U.S. Funding
San Diego Union-Tribune, April 10 — The federal government will spend about $182 million to create a high-tech research vessel and build a new office complex for the Southwest Fisheries Science Center in La Jolla, whose current bluff-top home is in danger of falling into the ocean. The replacement complex will be built on the UCSD campus next to the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. More
Love Put to Test in Psych Course
San Diego Union-Tribune, April 10 — Longing gazes and major crushes can sometimes lead to love on a college campus. In a new psychology course at UCSD, they can also lead to a good grade. Undergraduates enrolled in Psych 158, a class on interpersonal relationships, are being asked to take part in intimacy and relationship-enhancement exercises designed to help them fall madly in love, or at least get to know someone a whole lot better.
