San Diego's Future in a Greenhouse World
San Diego Union-Tribune
, Opinion, April 13 -- The just released summary of impacts expected from global warming shows the San Diego of the future will be quite different from the San Diego we know today. Essentially, in the Southwest, we have developed a civilization whose present lifestyle will not be sustainable in the future if the computer projections are even ball-park correct – and recent observations suggest they are at least this good. Friday 13 May Be
a Health-hazard, if You Believe It
St. Louis Post Dispatch
, April 13 -- Will today, Friday the 13th, be hazardous to your health? It may be if you believe it is. The power of unlucky numbers is dubious. But scientists are finding that the power of the mind over the body is strong, so much so that mere moods and beliefs can affect our health, for the better — and for the worse. (Mentions research by UCSD sociologist David Phillips) More
