For Knee Replacement Rehabilitation

, NC, April 14 -- Generally, the best time to begin knee rehabilitation is right after surgery. However, sometimes patients face a significant delay in starting rehab because they are not strong enough to endure weight on the affected limb. Researchers at UCSD, Clinical Physiology Lab have developed a device that eases the stress on the lower body during walking. It's called a positive air pressure chamber. The device borrows from the same technology used to recreate simulated gravity for astronauts who need to exercise while in space. More

, April 14 -- Fresh from signing a free-trade agreement in Washington, D.C., outgoing Peruvian President Alejandro Toledo defended his record yesterday, telling a luncheon crowd in San Diego, “It will be the next president who will harvest what I have planted.” Toledo, 60, was honored by Institute of the Americas at UCSD with its Award for Democracy and Peace. He is the eighth Latin American head of state to receive the award. More

Task force Criticizes UC's Pay Practices

Waves and Currents Will Be Lecture Topic
