Korean-Americans Mourn Shooting Victims
San Diego Union-Tribune, April 18 - After learning yesterday that the gunman in Monday's rampage at Virginia Tech was an immigrant from Korea, Korean-Americans turned out for an evening prayer vigil for the victims. About three dozen students of Korean descent attending UCSD and SDSU carried white candles and white roses to the altar at Hanbit Church in Kearny Mesa before pastors offered prayers. More

Concert Will Support
Gompers Charter School
San Diego Union-Tribune, April 18 - A fundraising concert to benefit programs at Gompers Charter Middle School will be held at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow at the school auditorium, 1005 47th St. The concert will feature “classical masterpieces and jazz stylings” by pianist Cecil Lytle, professor of music at UCSD; Rob Thorsen on bass; and Brett Sanders, a Gompers alumnus, on drums. UCSD's gospel choir and Gompers' choir also will perform. More
