Named to UCSD Arts Division

Michael A. Bernstein, an economist and historian,
has been named the University of California San Diego's
dean of arts and humanities. Bernstein, 50,
who has taught on campus for 17 years, will serve as one of
11 deans on the La Jolla campus. He will oversee academic, personnel
and budgetary decisions for history, literature, philosophy,
music, visual arts, and theater and dance. More
