UCSD begins
work on quake simulator
San Diego Union Tribune, Dec. 11 –
UCSD is building a $10.4 million earthquake
simulator. The facility, called a shake table, is being billed
as the first outdoor simulator in the world and will allow researchers
to build full-scale buildings to test for earthquake resistance

launches on-demand computing

new service, called Gateway Processing On Demand, was made possible
