New approach to marine reserve networks
United Press International, Dec. 6 – Researchers at Scripps Institution of Oceanography have come up with a new approach for designing networks of marine reserves that allows scientists to balance conservation goals with fishing interests.

Diuretics may harm some kidney patients
United Press International, Dec. 6 – Kidney patients who do not respond to diuretics may suffer a toxic reaction to the agents, and excreting more urine could mask the severity of the kidney damage, said study author Dr. Ravindra Mehta of UCSD.
