Hospitalists' Patients Have Shorter Hospital Stays, Study Finds

SciAm 50: Squirt and Spin
Scientific American, Dec. 20 -- Physicist Hanan Dery of UCSD and his colleagues have now come up with a workable logic-gate design. A combination of fixed magnets and voltage levels steers electrons based on their spin and the desired gate function. The team outlined a proposal for a spintronics computer based on the gate, but it remains to be seen whether it will work in practice. More
