Faster than Previously Thought

Google.cn is designed to get around the Chinese government's tight Internet controls by blocking information that Beijing does not approve of. All companies make some compromises to get into the Chinese market, but critics say Google has given up too easily. How a Baby's Nose Knows Mom's Scent
Pregnancy and Baby, Jan. 26-For newborn mammals, including humans, identifying Mom by her odor can be critical to maternal bonding and survival. However, researchers have not understood how this odor identification develops. Now, Kevin Franks and Jeffry Isaacson of the UCSD School of Medicine report that this process develops in basically the same way that newborns' developing visual systems learn to recognize the world. WPA at OMA: Rare WPA Artwork
Featured in Exhibit at Oceanside Museum

North County Times, Jan. 25-The Oceanside Museum of Art's new exhibit is an opportunity for art lovers to see artworks produced in the '30s by the Works Progress Administration. "Art of the WPA Era From Collections of the San Diego Region" includes approximately 65 works on loan from 20 local collectors. The curator is Bram Dijkstra, a professor emeritus of comparative literature at UCSD. More
