Fair sets attendance record
San Diego Union-Tribune, July 7—The San Diego County Fair attracted a record 1,196,643 visitors during its just-concluded run. This year's "Commotion by the Ocean" theme helped draw visitors to the marine exhibits in partnership with Scripps Institution of Oceanography.

Grants from Kansas City, Mo., Foundation to Boost Entrepreneurial Education
The Kansas City Star, July 8—The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation will award grants of up to $ 5 million to as many as seven U.S. universities involved in broad-based entrepreneurial education. The University of California at San Diego is one of 15 universities competing for grants.

University of North Carolina Alumnus May Become Dean of Business School
News & Observer, July 8—Steve Jones, a North Carolina native and UNC-Chapel Hill alumnus who has spent most of his career as a banker in Australia, has been recommended as the next dean of UNC-CH's Kenan-Flagler Business School. Jones will succeed Robert Sullivan, who left after four years at Kenan-Flagler to become the founding dean at the Graduate Management School at the University of California, San Diego.
