On tear-down day, the staff at the San Diego County Fair congratulated
themselves on a fair well done. Portions of the Scripps
Institution of Oceanography exhibit will be recycled
and the Ocean Supermarket, which explains kelp content, will
travel to the Sacramento State Fair to compete for best fair
exhibit.

Erbitux bane for Martha but may be magic for some with cancer
Philadelphia Inquirer, July 10—The
ImClone scandal may have ruined company chief Sam Waksal and
damaged stockholder Martha Stewart, but the intriguing cancer
drug at the root of it all, Erbitux, is emerging with its reputation
intact. The idea that was to become Erbitux emerged around 1980
in the mind of John Mendelsohn, who was doing cancer research
at the University of California, San Diego.

of California, San Diego researchers evaluated several
studies performed on long-term recreational pot smokers and
have concluded that there is little to substantiate claims that
the habit has an negative effect on "neurocognitive functioning”.
