But it was in the laboratory that Kit Pogliano, now a UCSD biologist, really took off and showed what she was made of. San Diego Union-Tribune, June 14 -- Mohamud Haye doesn't even remember the three-day trek across Somalia to escape clan warfare. Nor can he recall much about the three years at the refugee camp in Kenya. Just that two brothers died there and a sister was born there. Mohamud, who graduates from high school this month, plans to attend UCSD, where he'll major in biology. More

Worries Grow Over Fragile, Vital Delta Water Supply
Voice of San Diego, June 14 -- The Harvey O. Banks Delta Pumping Plant is an important cog in San Diego's water supply. It draws water about 225 feet up into an aqueduct that winds 444 miles before feeding the San Luis Reservoir, which then delivers water south to Los Angeles and San Diego.
