Top researcher is joining UCSD
San Diego Union-Tribune, May 22 – Ming T. Tsuang, one of the world's top researchers in human genetics, behavior and neuropsychiatric diseases is joining University of California, San Diego to direct the new Institute of Behavioral Genomics. Tsuang "has led the way in increasing our knowledge of the molecular genetics of mental illness," said Dr. Lewis Judd, chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at UCSD.

Dell on Dell
Daily Transcript, May 21 – Michael Dell, founder, chairman and chief executive of Dell Computer Corp., was the first to participate in a public lecture series at University of California, San Diego on Tuesday. The "Conversation with Michael Dell" event drew some 450 students, professors and local executives, and was sponsored by UCSD's School of Management, the Jacobs School of Engineering and the Beyster Institute.

Daily Transcript, May 21 – Although June 8 is World Oceans Day, June 4th may be more important in a move to restore our coastal oceans. That is the day the Pew Oceans Commission, a panel which includes Scripps Institution of Oceanography director Charles F. Kennel, will present is findings and "lay out the roadmap America will need to take if it is to save its territorial waters and those beyond."

Celebrity chefs set a stunning table for 600 at UCSD cancer benefit
San Diego Union-Tribune, BURL STIFF, May 23 – Celebrity chefs from all over the country prepared hors d'oeuvres for the crowd before the seated dinner at the 22nd annual Celebrities Cook for the Rebecca and John Moores University of California, San Diego Cancer Center Gala. The center benefited by something like $300,000 from Saturday's big food fest at the Sheraton Harbor Island.

Drug testing in schools: Can it cause harm?
