USCD Oncologist Says Standard Treatment for Kidney Cancer is Not the Best Option
KPBS, May 20 — Kidney tumors don't usually respond to chemotherapy or radiation. Total removal of the kidney has been standard practice. But research shows removing the tumor and surrounding tissue, while sparing the rest of the kidney, is just as effective. UCSD oncologist Ithaar Derweesh is on a panel that's issued a new treatment guideline. More
San Diego's World Series-Bound Team
Voice of San Diego, May 18 -- Now 35 more San Diego collegians are on their way to enjoy the rewards that come with a visit to USA Baseball's facilities in Cary. Those would be the 35 players on the roster of UCSD's baseball team. The Tritons earned a trip to the NCAA Division II College World Series by winning the West Regional Sunday with a 12-4 win over Sonoma State in Keizer, Ore. More

Students Pay Tribute to Ellen Revelle
La Jolla Light, May 19 -- For the past five years, Ellen Revelle hosted an annual reception for outstanding graduates of Revelle College. This year, the sixth annual Senior High Tea was cancelled, but the students and staff held a tribute to Ellen Revelle in its place. The event was held on Saturday, May 16 at UCSD's Stonehenge and established a new tradition with the Ellen Revelle Senior High Tea. More
