Obituary: Professor Sir Clive Granger
The Daily Telegraph, U.K., May 29 -- In 2003, Clive Granger shared the Nobel prize for economics with the American academic Robert Engle for their work on the concept of co-integration – ways of analysing sequences of economic data recorded at regular intervals, known as time series. Their use of sophisticated statistical techniques now helps the understanding of market movements and economic trends. Granger became a UCSD professor in 1974. More

Emporia State (Kan.) left fielder Kellen Lane's walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth yesterday trumped a late rally by the Tritons, leading the Hornets to a 5-3 win at the USA Baseball National Training Complex and ending a season in which UCSD won more than 40 games for the second consecutive year. Rady School Holds Pinnacle Awards
La Jolla Light, May 27 -- The Rady School of Management held its Pinnacle Awards & Alumni Gala at the La Jolla campus on May 17. The gala raised money for student fellowships. Award winners included Pauline Foster, Rod Lanthorne, Malin Burnham, Joe Cook, Steve Gerken, Jay Brandeis and Wendy Lin. More
