Panel: Look Beyond Rhetoric on Licenses
San Diego Union-Tribune,
Oct. 22-A panel of immigration experts in San Diego yesterday
tackled questions surrounding a controversial law that will
grant driver licenses to illegal immigrants beginning next year.
Panelists who gathered at the University of California,
San Diego said the public should look beyond the emotional
rhetoric of anti-immigrant groups leading the campaign to repeal
the law signed by Gov. Gray Davis last month. (Quote by Haley

Experts Study Global Warming's Impact on Water Supplies
Reno Gazette-Journal, Oct. 21-On the
second consecutive day of record temperatures across Northern
Nevada, more than 100 of the nation's top climate experts gathered
Tuesday to study mounting evidence of global warming and its

What's Happening
San Diego Union-Tribune, Oct. 22-
Volunteers are needed for a healthy eating program that provides
nutritional coaching by personal telephone calls. The program
was developed at UCSD Moores Cancer Center
and is administered by the American Cancer Society. Volunteers
work out of the ACS office in Mission Valley for several hours
a week.
