Nobel Nod for Scripps Adds to Lore
San Diego Union-Tribune, Oct. 14 -- Getting a piece of the Nobel Peace Prize, no matter how small the slice, is a big feather in the cap for nearly 20 scientists from UCSD's Scripps Institution of Oceanography. But the award, shared with Al Gore and several thousand contributors to the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, may be an even bigger boost for Scripps and its reputation. More

Study: Low Testosterone Levels May Increase Risk of Death in Older Men

Blood Test May Predict Who Will Develop Alzheimer's
Bloomberg, Oct. 14 -- A blood test may help doctors determine which patients with mild memory problems may go on to develop Alzheimer's disease. Scientists at Stanford, the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System, UCSD, the Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Göteborg University in Sweden, and the University of Genoa in Italy contributed to the study.
