Scientists Complete Genetic Map of the Chimpanzee
Washington Post, Sept. 1-Scientists led by Eric S. Lander of Harvard have determined the precise order of the 3 billion bits of genetic code that carry the instructions for making a chimpanzee, humankind's closest cousin. Yesterday UCSD scientists used the occasion of the chimp genome's unveiling to focus attention on the creatures' plight, calling for renewed conservation efforts and new rules governing the use of great apes in research. San Diego Metropolitan, September 2005-A National Association of Colleges and Employers survey of 116 employers reveals businesses plan to hire 25 percent more MBAs during the 2004-2005 school year than were hired in 2003-2004. One-fourth of respondents came from the Midwest, 25 percent were from the Northeast, 31.9 percent from the South, and 18.1 percent from the West.
