Brain Registers Taste of Food Differently in Anorexic Women, Study Finds
FOX News, Sept. 26 -- Women suffering from anorexia have "distinct" differences in the part of the brain that recognizes taste, according to new research reported online by the journal Neuropsychopharmacology in advance of publication. The study was led by Dr. Angela Wagner, of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and Dr. Walter H. Kaye, of the University of Pittsburgh and the UCSD School of Medicine. More

Deep Trouble
The Smithsonian, September 2007 -- Research has shown that, with paltry few exceptions, the planet's coral reefs have experienced a prolonged, devastating decline in recent decades. But determining which factor, or factors, is most responsible for that decimation has proved vastly more difficult. To help answer some of these questions, a team of researchers from UCSD’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography set out in a converted World War II freighter in September 2005 to study reefs in the South Pacific's remote Line Islands. Affordable Textbooks; Affordable Education
San Diego Union-Tribune, Opinion, Sept. 26 -- On top of tuition and fee hikes, textbooks now cost students $900 a year on average, equal to 25 percent of the tuition and fees of the average four-year public university and 43 percent of the tuition and fees at a community college.
