Enzyme halts muscle wasting in animal study of childhood muscular dystrophy

April 17 – The muscle destruction associated with Duchenne muscular dystrophy was inhibited after a UCSD team, led by senior author Paul Martin, added an enzyme to skeletal muscles in mice bred to develop DMD.  The results are published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
