to improve the computing capability for ocean and
atmospheric research. The
new center, called the Center for Observations, Modeling and
Prediction (COMPAS) has formed partnerships with Cal -(IT)2,
the San Diego Supercomputer
Center and IBM. Stammer
will serve as director of COMPAS.
