Sense of self may be brain’s computer at work

April 30 – UCSD philosopher Patricia Churchland thinks the “self” is a concept that the brain uses to organize its activity, a sort of tool for bringing coherence to its perceptions, decisions and plans for action.  Her work is published in a recent issue of the journal Science.
