Scripps Health settles fraudulent-billing claims

June 5 – Scripps Health will pay $3.8 million to settle claims that its two La Jolla hospitals fraudulently billed Medicare for implanting experimental cardiac devices such as pacemakers in numerous patients a decade ago.  (Mentions a 1999 UCSD Medical Center and Sharp Healthcare settlement).
