$9.5 Million Grant for Heart Research

, June 29 -- San Diego State University has received a $9.5 million grant to study how the protection of mitochondria can preserve heart cells during a heart attack. The five-year grant from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute will provide roughly $2 million each year for research projects conducted at the university, UCSD and the Scripps Research Institute, university officials said.
