Study says AIDS drugs may increase heart attack risk
The Associated Press, Mar. 1 – New research raises the possibility that lifesaving AIDS drugs may also increase the risk of heart trouble. Conflicting studies, including one led by UCSD professor Dr. Samuel Bozette, were released in Seattle at the Ninth Annual Retrovirus Conference.

Mar.1, Pg. A11—According to a new study led by UCSD’s Dr. Samuel Bozette, people infected with the AIDS virus who take antiretroviral drugs don’t appear to have an increased risk of having heart attacks or strokes.

Supervisors order audit of trauma system
San Diego Business Journal,
Feb. 11-17—The San Diego County Board of Supervisors called for an audit of the hospital trauma care system following the temporary closure of Palomar Medical Center at the beginning of the year.  UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest is one of six hospitals that will be reviewed.  Dr. James Dunford, director of emergency medical services for San Diego and a UCSD Medical Center emergency room doctor, is interviewed.
