Professor at UC-San Diego admits to lying on resume, steps down as state’s poet laureate
Chronicle of Higher Education, Oct. 21 – Quincy Troupe, UCSD literature professor and California poet laureate, informed UCSD officials that he lied about having received a college degree. When state officials confronted him with the discrepancy on his resume, he resigned from the poet laureate post. Pill ‘very promising’; CoQ10 may arrest Parkinson’s Disease

New shuttle to serve UCSD traffic introduced
La Jolla Light, Oct. 16 – UCSD’s Transportation and Parking Services is funding a new service to facilitate traffic to the campus and help ease traffic and UCSD parking congestion. The new Cityshuttle provides transportation for students and affiliates to and from campus to nearby housing and shopping areas.

Scripps Institution of Oceanography kicks off centennial celebration
The Log, Oct. 21 – September marked the kick-off of Scripps Institution of Oceanography’s centennial celebration, which culminates in its 100-year anniversary Sept. 26, 2003.
