UCSD researchers win project grants

How child abuse and neglect damage the brain
Boston Globe, Sept. 24 – Neurobiological findings show that physical, sexual and psychological abuse affect key structures of the brain. Studies by UCSD’s Murray Stein and Yale’s Douglas Bremner found that the left hippocampus, which affects memories and emotions, is smaller in abuse victims.

The absent professors
U.S. News & World Report, Sept. 23 – According to American Enterprise magazine, the number of college professors who are registered Democrats or that belong to other “left” parties is steadily increasing.
