CALENDAR ANNOUNCEMENT

UCSD’s New Writing Series, Winter 2005 - New and established writers read selections from their latest work. Free and open to the public, all the readings begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Performance Space of the Visual Arts Facility, just north of the Gilman Parking Structure, on the UCSD campus.   • January 26
    Catherine Wagner and Martin Coreless Smith. Wagner is the author of Macular Hole and Miss America. Coreless-Smith is the author of Nota, Complete Travels and Of Piscator. Both poets teach at Boise State University.
  • February 10
    Jordan Davis.
    Author of Million Poems Journal, Davis began hosting The Million Poems Show, a poetry talk show at the Bowery Poetry Club, in the fall of 2004.
  • February 16
    Monica Youn
    . An entertainment lawyer living in Manhattan, Youn published her first book of poems, Barter, in 2003.
  • February 23
    Lesley Stern
    . A professor of visual arts at UCSD, Stern writes at the intersection of fiction, memoir, history and poetry. Her most recent publication is The Smoking Book.
  • March 9
    Fanny Howe
    . Poet, novelist and UCSD literature professor emerita, Howe is the award-winning author of more than 20 books. Her most recent include On the Ground, The Wedding Dress, Gone and Selected Poems.

The series is sponsored by UCSD's Department of Literature, Division of Arts & Humanities and Muir Provost's Humanities Fund.
