SAN DIEGO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL TO SHOWCASE MAJOR FILMS, ANIMATED FEATURES AND SHORT SUBJECTS IN MAY/JUNE AT UCSD

The San Diego International Film Festival (SDIFF) rounds out its 1999 schedule in May and June with six international feature films, an evening devoted to short films and a celebration of animation.  All screenings will be in Mandeville Auditorium at the University of California, San Diego.

Five films are scheduled in May.  They include: Angels of the Dumps (Macedonia) and Going to School With Dad on My Back (China), May 4; This is My Father (Ireland/Canada), May 5, and Emperor’s Shadow (China) and Made in Hong Kong (Hong Kong), May 11.

Seventeen short films, ranging in length from 5 minutes to 29 minutes, will be featured beginning at 7 p.m. May 10.  A celebration of international animated features will begin at 7 p.m. May 13.

The final film of the festival, Thanks for the Tip (Spain/Catalunya), will be screened June 4.

In its 15th season, the San Diego International Film Festival is sponsored by UCSD’s University Events Office in cooperation with Time Warner Cable. Ruth Baily is SDIFF’s artistic director. The first film of each evening will be screened at 7 p.m., the second feature at 9:15 p.m. General admission to each screening is $6 and $4 for students. Parking at UCSD is $3 on weekday evenings.
