HEAD OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS/PACIFIC Jim Cheng, currently the Chinese Studies Librarian/Bibliographer at the University of Iowa Libraries, has been appointed Department Head, International Relations/Pacific Studies Library at the University of California, San Diego Libraries. He will begin duties at the UCSD Libraries Nov. 1. At the University of Iowa Libraries Cheng has been responsible for management of the Chinese and Korean Collections. He also established a Chinese film collection of more than 700 titles. Before joining the University of Iowa Libraries Cheng performed contract cataloging at the New York University Law Library. Prior to that he served at the University of Washington as a library technician in the East Asian Library and also coordinated the Chinese/Japanese/Korean Retrospective Conversion Project in the university’s Gallagher Law Library. Cheng received his master’s degree in library science from the University of Washington.
