Jan Jennings (858) 822-1684 The NACADA was chartered in 1979 to promote quality academic advising to students and to provide a network and strong support for faculty, advisors, counselors, and administrators involved in academic advising. As Administrative Division Representative, Joseph will be responsible for leadership of the six NACADA administrative and services committees: awards, diversity, finance, membership, professional development, and research. She will report division items to and serve on the NACADA Council, and also will serve on the Board of Directors. Joseph has been a member of the NACADA since 1989 and has served as Pacific regional representative, chair of external relations, 1998 national conference chair, and has maintained membership on numerous other committees. “Being elected to this NACADA leadership position is not only a fine tribute by one’s peers,” says NACADA president Betsy McCalla-Wriggins, “but also is recognition of significant professional contributions to and excellence in the field of academic advising.” Joseph says that her most important
goal in her new role is “to provide continuity of support to the
NACADA Council and Board of Directors to ensure current and future identification
of critical issues surrounding academic advising professionals in higher
education.” |
