A reception with the artist will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, 18 January, in the foyer. The event is free and the campus community and public are invited to attend.

Dietze, a UC San Diego alumna as well as a business manager for University Communications and Public Affairs, began painting at a young age and has continued to be inspired to work in both acrylic and oil. When asked about her style, Dietze says, “I am a mood painter. I can go weeks without painting, but when I have to paint, I have to paint, and if I am out of canvases, I will paint on anything!”

She has considered her work to be more like a diary, with no intention to show publicly. In 2005, visitors to her studio encouraged her to take her pieces public, and in 2006 she sold her first pieces.  This is Dietze’s first exhibit, featuring an eclectic mix that shows her passion for impressions, light, and blended colors

The paintings currently being exhibited at the Price Center are some of Dietze’s most valued pieces. Her art is impressionistic and showcases moods with soft pastel colors. The greens and blues that she paints with blend to create a united feeling through out the Price Center Theatre Foyer.
