UCSD Celebrates Asian American
and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

From an iron chef cooking competition to a discussion on the state of Asian America on a college campus, the University of California, San Diego is celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month through June 3. The events are open to the public.
Titled 1st Annual Spring Roles and subtitled Intersecting Stories, Struggles, and Identities of our Asian American and Pacific Islander Communities, the event is being presented by the UCSD Asian American and Pacific Islander Planning Committee.
On May 9, UCSD ethnic studies professor Lisa Sun-Hee Park will facilitate the discussion, The State of Asian America at UCSD and Beyond – Re-visiting the (In) Visibility of Asian Representations. The event will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the UCSD Cross-Cultural Center.
On May 16, an Iron Chef Cooking Competition will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. UCSD students and staff members will compete in a contest of culinary skills and talent. The event will be held in the Great Hall at Eleanor Roosevelt College.
