Anniversary of Crafts Center

October 29, 2008

By Jan Jennings

The Crafts Center at the University of California, San Diego, will celebrate its 35th anniversary with an exhibition of art works by UCSD faculty members. A reception for the artists will be held Nov. 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. The exhibition will continue through Nov. 22.

Thirty-two faculty members/artists will show their works in a variety of media.

Among participating artists are Buzz Blodgett, glass blowing; Lucy Wang, Chinese brush painting; Joyce Rooks, lampworking necklaces; Toru Nakatani, sculpture; Bret Daniel, figurative sculpture, and Chet Wooding, silkscreen.

The Crafts Center at UCSD offers a wide range of classes – taught by some of San Diego’s top artists/crafts persons – in everything from glass, clay and jewelry to weaving, photography, graphics and metal work.

The Crafts Center is located in the Student Center on UCSD’s Revelle College campus off Eucalyptus Grove Lane. Directions and parking information are available at the Gilman Drive information center at the entrance to the campus.
