Scott MacKay
Scott MacKay has joined University of California San Diego Extension as the director of the OSHA Training Institute Education Center and the assistant managing director of the Public Service Cluster. He oversees the training of more than 3,000 students annually in hundreds of OSHA and Cal OSHA courses.
MacKay was previously an OSHA training director at the University of Washington in Seattle and California State University, Dominguez Hills in Los Angeles. At the two universities he advised in the development of over 200 intensive online courses in safety in partnership with private and public partners. He continues as a strong advocate for the delivery of high-quality online safety courses as a viable option for safety professionals world-wide.
MacKay has worked in continuing education (both traditional and non-traditional distance delivery) since receiving his master’s degree in Adult and Continuing Education in 1988 from Brigham Young University.
MacKay is a member of American Society of Safety Engineers and in 2003 was elected to the administrative advisory board for the OSHA Training Institute Education Center program. He served as chair of this group from 2004-2005.
