Web Site To Be Launched Sept. 29 To Help Fill
More
Than 50,000 Higher Education Jobs In The Next Five Years

WHAT:
- The Southern California
Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC), a group of
22 campuses founded in 2003 by the University of California,
San Diego, will gather at UCLA to announce the official launch
of the first higher education job Web site for the region
at www.socalherc.org. Over the next five years, HERC campuses
expect to hire more than 50,000 new faculty and staff.

BACKGROUND:
- Institutions of
higher education are a significant economic force in Southern
California. HERC member campuses have a combined estimated
annual budget of more than $10.6 billion and employ nearly
80,000 employees. HERC campuses expect to hire more than 100,000
new employees in the next 10 years.
HERC members include the University of California campuses,
community colleges, private universities and professional
schools.
