AND SNIA PRESENT INFORMATION SECURITY CONFERENCE IN SAN DIEGO ON 15 FEBRUARY,
2002 Conference
Delivers Information Security/Business Recovery Primer For All Size
Organizations; Patrick Gambaro From The New York Board Of Trade (NYBOT) To
Give Keynote Address The
Information Storage Industry Center (ISIC) at the University of California,
San Diego and the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) are pleased
to present “Protecting Your Information Assets in an Uncertain World.”
This one-day conference is developed specifically for entrepreneurs,
businesspeople, and corporate decision makers in the greater San Diego region.
It provides a thought-provoking overview of issues related to information
security, business continuance, and disaster recovery planning. From equipment
failure to loss of infrastructure, attendees from all size organizations will
gain a basic understanding of the threats facing their own mission-critical
information, and how to achieve greater levels of protection and preparedness. “While
large corporations devote significant resources to information security and
disaster recovery planning, these are subjects that small- to medium-sized
companies can have a difficult time getting their arms around,” states ISIC
Director Roger Bohn. “We at the ISIC and SNIA have developed a conference to
help business people who don’t have an information technology background
begin to address these issues within their own organizations. To that end,
we’ve assembled a roster of speakers from leading corporations and asked
them to create presentations that accelerate this process for everyone from
individual business owners to the largest enterprise.” “Recent events have caused an increased awareness of the risks to vital business data, and the need to provide for continued operations in the face of catastrophic loss,” states SNIA Board Member Clod Barrera. “Whether the threat is a natural disaster or an act of terrorism, business professionals must have workable plans to protect their businesses and their customers. The rise of storage networking, and the variety of services available, are now making disaster recovery and business continuance accessible to organizations of all sizes. The SNIA welcomes the opportunity to partner with ISIC in bringing the latest on information security and disaster recovery to this audience.” Additional speakers include: Bonnie Haugen-Cool, Consulting Principal, National Business Continuity & Recovery Services (BCRS), IBM; Ken Duggan, Senior Technical Consultant, Compaq; Hemen Godbole, Director of Solutions Marketing, VERITAS Software; Dino Balafas, Director of Product Marketing, QLogic; and Jeff Williams, President, Phoenix Recovery Planning. The cost for the event is $75 per attendee when registering online, or $85 per attendee at the door, and space is limited. The conference is being held at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina, 1380 Harbor Island Drive, San Diego, CA 92102. Breakfast and lunch are provided.
