SDSC Researcher Named One Of 50 Most
Powerful People In Networking By Network World Fusion

San Diego Supercomputer
Center researcher kc claffy has been named to Network World's
2004 Power 50 list of the most powerful people in networking.
Featured in the December 27 issue, claffy, who leads the Cooperative
Association for Internet Data Analysis (CAIDA) group is featured
with other notables such as Microsoft's Bill Gates and Larry
Ellison of Oracle.
"kc
is a community treasure and her leadership has made CAIDA a
leading force in internet analysis." said Fran Berman,
Director of SDSC. "This recognition is both timely and
well-deserved."
Highlights from the
story include:
"KC Claffy, chair, CAIDA: Claffy, a staple in the computer
science scientific community, earns her place on this list for
her prominent role at CAIDA, a collaboration among commercial,
scientific and government entities to build a more robust Internet.
CAIDA studies all things performance related on the live, global
Internet, using homegrown visualization and tracking tools."
More recently, kc has
also articulated the most paramount and pervasive weaknesses
in the current Internet infrastructure, (URL)
and argued that technological forces will inevitably demand
a re-evaluation of the fundamental aspects of Internet architecture,
engineering, and governance.
