UCSD Event Features Free College
Prep Workshops
For Parents, And PSAT Exams For Students
By Michael Dabney
While their high
school children practice for the SAT college entrance exam,
parents will be able to receive other important information
about how to prepare their children for successful college admission
during a series of free workshops at the University of California,
San Diego on Saturday, March 13.
In an event sponsored
by UCSD’s Early Academic Outreach Program and the Princeton
Review, high school students will take the PSAT (Preliminary
Scholastic Aptitude Test), which is the practice test for the
important SAT exam, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Center Hall
on the UCSD campus, 9500 Gilman Drive, La Jolla.
Also at Center Hall,
from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., parents can attend workshops to
learn about: admissions requirements for the University of California
and the California State University systems; important changes
that will be made to the SAT affecting high school students
entering college as early as 2006; college financial aid and
scholarships available, and additional college-prep services
offered by EAOP and Princeton Review.
Free parking will be
available at UCSD’s Gilman Drive Parking Structure. For
